Clerkenwell has become a great coffee area with the help of St Ali, Prufrock and Look Mum No Hands. Prufrock has the best coffee, owned by the 2009 world Barista champion, Look Mum No Hands has a built in bike workshop and St Ali offers the best food.
St Ali is more like a restaurant than an independent coffee shop. The Australian owned cafe offers brilliant food throughout the day, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the morning, have a large croissant with coffee and in the evening, try dishes like smoked pigeon with puy lentils and roast onions. From 8th of March, the bar will serve drinks till 11pm, great for post work dues.
It’s a spacious cafe, with multiple floors styled with wooden furniture against brick walls. On the ground floor, a 12kg roaster is visually at view that allows coffee beans to be roasted on site. Prufrock and Look Mum No Hands both use Square Mile roasts than their own.
A selection of coffee gear and their own roasts for sell.
A great flat white by any standards, two mild shots of espresso evenly combined with milk microfoam. Same flavour and temperature from the first sip to the last.
St Ali is a great cafe with amazing food served throughout the day. If you drink or eat in, simply sit down and enjoy the table service, no need to queue or to pay at the counter. A nice change after the forever long queue at Monmouth. Coffee is roasted on site and available to buy with a selection of professional coffee gear.
